When the NY Islanders selected Cole Eiserman with pick No. 20 in the 2024 NHL Draft, the attribute that made him so appealing was his shot. An elite shot that was NHL-ready by the time he was 18, Eiserman can shoot the puck with the best of them and has one of the best shots in the world outside of the NHL.

Originally a projected top-five pick, Eiserman slid to the middle of the first round, as the rest of his game still needed to round out significantly.

Cole Eiserman picks up an insane assist

Now, in his sophomore season at Boston University, Eiserman is adding to his repertoire outside of filling the net.

Last night, in Boston University's matchup with the University of New Hampshire, Eiserman had what might be the assist of the season in the NCAA. With a 3-1 lead in the third period, Eiserman faked a shot and slid a pass between his legs to Jack Harvey, who fired the puck into a gaping net with the goaltender still focused on Eiserman and unable to slide across his crease.

Through 27 games this season, Eiserman has recorded 13 goals while adding seven assists. He missed some time with a lower-body injury but has since made his way back into the lineup.

After making last year's Frozen Four, BU has struggled this season and may see its bubble burst when it comes to making the NCAA Tournament. If that’s the case, the Islanders and Eiserman have a decision to make. Does he sign his professional contract and join the Islanders organization, or does he look to further develop his game in the NCAA? The Islanders could certainly use a player of his goal-scoring stature in their playoff push, but a decision will need to be made on whether or not he’s ready to make that jump.
