Islanders Unveiling a Third Jersey?

It is becoming obvious that the New York Islanders will play with a new third jersey next season to honour the new city they will be playing in, Brooklyn. Brian Emi of IslandersPointBlank discusses his take on reports stating that the Islanders will be wearing black and white third jerseys. [IslandersPointBlank]

They have seen some good, bad and ugly third jerseys throughout the years, but fans are hoping they get it right this time around. Dan Saraceni from Lighthouse Hockey gives us a breakdown of the history of the Islanders’ third jersey. [Lighthouse Hockey]

And just a reminder…

Could we see this logo on their jerseys? I personally would only prefer it to be on their shoulders as an alternate logo. It may not look well on the front of a jersey.

Daniel Friedman of CBS New York gives an interesting story on the history of hockey in Brooklyn. A very good read. New York as a whole has a rich hockey history that not many people are aware of. It is easy to forget about the New York Americans, a former popular NHL team from the first half of the twentieth century. [CBS]

Jaroslav Halak Named Ninth Best Goalie in the League
