The New York Islanders biggest splash in free agency was the addition of Andrew Ladd, after six games Jack Capuano saw enough and bumped him off the top line.

After Andrew Ladd continued to struggle, New York Islanders head coach Jack Capuano decided that he’s seen enough and put the 19-year old Anthony Beauvillier up with John Tavares. Not even through seven games and Cappy already started to shuffle them up.

I don’t think I agree with this move here. Andrew Ladd has absolutely struggled as he has yet to score a goal, but he has been getting more shots the last few games and some of his struggles are due to bad puck luck.

The issue I have with Cappy shuffling the lines is the lack of chemistry. The Islanders never have consistent lines, so how are they supposed to learn about their linemates?

Actually the linemates that have the best chemistry are Casey Cizikas and Cal Clutterbuck, who have now spent years together on the same line. I understand trying to create offense but it comes off as a panic move when you move your number one free agent acquisition off the top line.

The Islanders top line was supposed to be Andrew Ladd – John Tavares – PA Parenteau. Parenteau’s in New Jersey, Ladd is on another line and now Josh Bailey, a third liner and a 19-year old rookie are Tavares’ wingers. What a world we live in.
