Islanders coach Jack Capuano cited bad puck luck as the reason for the Isles shootout loss. Although true in some aspects, it’s too much of an excuse hiding the real problems.
The Islanders yet again, were unable to hold a lead and struggled on the penalty kill. Yet Jack Capuano chalked up the loss to bad puck luck.
“I give the guys credit. They worked extremely hard. They played systematically sound,” Capuano said. “For whatever reason right now, the puck luck is not going our way.”
Capuano was right using this description for the first five minutes of the game maybe, but after that, no they didn’t play a systematically sound game.

The Isles were clicking for their first few shifts then an odd goal scored on a deflection by Patrick Maroon seemed to change that. From that moment on the Islanders play changed, they lacked that initial energy.
You want to chalk up Andrew Ladd‘s struggles to bad puck luck, I might give you that one, but this team has so many issues and to blame it on the puck not bouncing your way is extremely naive and uninformed.
How about blaming it on your penalty kill which has been bad for over a week now? Or on your forwards who are still missing in action? Capuano already threw Garth Snow under the bus how about putting some blame on himself.
