New York Islanders NHL 16 Ratings

The much-anticipated NHL 16 player ratings have recently been released, and it is always fun to take a look at how good or bad EA Sports thinks of every player in the NHL. Of course, it is extremely difficult to rate different types of players and goalies into a single overall rating out of a hundred because of different styles of plays and positions. However, it helps fans get an idea of who is better than who for fantasy purposes.

So how did New York Islanders players do in these rankings? I ranked every skater and goalie together on the team in one list and included their potentials in brackets.

1. John Tavares (Medium)…………..92

Good for 13th in the league. However, I am not sure if he should share the same rating as Anze Kopitar and Henrik Zetterberg.

2. Kyle Okposo (Low)………………….88

A pretty decent rating for a guy who has injury problems in the past, but can score when healthy. They got this one right.

3. Johnny Boychuk (High)…………..87

A well-deserved rating, he just needs to prove he can continue to play at this level.

4. Frans Nielson (High)……………….86

I am glad Nielson is above 85. I remember him not being nearly as high a couple years back. However, he is finally getting the attention he deserves.

4. Nick Leddy (Medium)……………..86

A solid score for a young, emerging defenceman.

4. Jaroslav Halak (Low)………………86

I would have thought he would be a notch or two higher. His low potential is also curious.

7. Ryan Strome (High)…………………85

Great score. Many are banking on Strome to break through next year.

7. Travis Harmonic (Medium)………85

Maybe could have been one of two higher, but is satisfactory for this reliable defenceman.

9. Nikolay Kulemin (High)……………84

A little higher than I thought for him, but I am not complaining.

9. Brock Nelson (Medium)……………84

A great score for a guy that flys under the radar sometimes.

11. Michael Grabner (High)…………..83

11. Cal Clutterbuck (High)…………….83

11. Anders Lee (Medium)………………83

11. Josh Bailey (Medium)………………83

11. Mikhail Grabovski (Low)………….83

16. Matt Martin (Medium)…………….82

16. Calvin de Haan (Medium)………..82

16. Casey Cizikas (Low)…………………82

19. Thomas Hickey (High)…………….81

19. Thomas Greiss (High)……………..81

21. Brian Strait (High)………………….79

Overall, the team has decent overall ratings. They have a franchise player over 90 overall (John Tavares), and only have one player under 80 overall (Brian Strait, who at least has high potential). This is pretty good considering the New York Rangers have four players under 80 overall. I am satisfied with these rankings.
