The New York Islanders have eleven games left to decide their playoff fate. Currently they sit one point behind the Toronto Maple Leafs for the last wild card spot. One call up could be the difference between making or missing the playoffs.

The New York Islanders are in the final leg of the season and need to win in order to make the playoffs. Though they should recall Jaroslav Halak, the real difference maker would be Ryan Pulock. Both Pulock and Halak are tearing it up for the Islanders AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Johnny Boychuk hasn’t played since the Blackhawks game on March 3. In the eight games since Boychuk’s injury, the Isles are 3-4-1. Boychuk was finally able to get on the ice, but we’re still looking at some time before he will be ready to go.

This is why Pulock needs to be recalled. The power play has gone 2-19 since Boychuk’s latest injury. Pulock would instantly improve the power play. He possesses a booming shot that will keep everybody on their toes.

Game-changing Potential

Islander fans have seen Pulock up with the big team before. Last year he played in 15 regular season games and added six more games in the playoffs.

Pulock had one of the most important goals in last year’s playoff run.

In Game three against the Panthers, Pulock got the Islanders on the board. He cut the Panthers lead to 2-1.

That goal completely changed the momentum of the game and the series. It showed just what kind of a weapon he could be for the power play unit.

This year Pulock has had his cup of coffee with the Isles. He was called up back in October, and played against the Arizona Coyotes. Unfortunately, Pulock was only able to play a handful of shifts before getting hurt.

There is no reason for Ryan Pulock to still be playing in Bridgeport. He has proven to be a difference maker in the past, and will tremendously help a lackluster power play. Pulock helped to change the course of the Panthers’ series last year, and now one can only hope he will be given the chance to change the course of the Islanders 2017 season.
