Remember the former 4th overall pick Griffin Reinhart? Well he made his playoff debut which just yet again show how much the New York Islanders won that trade.

As New York Islanders fans we give Gath Snow a lot of grief, which he absolutely deserves but we just have to talk about this fantastic trade he made. With Griffin Reinhart making his playoff debut it was just another reminder of how lucky the Islanders were to land Mathew Barzal for Reinhart.

Not only was it Reinhart’s first playoff game of his NHL career it was also his first NHL game since April…of 2016. After the amazing trade that took place on draft day 2015 Reinhart played 29 games for the Oilers last year.

This year he did not play a single regular season game for them. It’s become more and more obvious that the Isles won this trade.

More from NY Islanders News

Mathew Barzal tore it up this year for the Seattle Thunderbirds. He had 10 goals and 69 assists for a whopping 79 points in just 41 games. It’s a safe bet that he will have a spot on the Isles roster next year, after they sent him back to the WHL after his nine-game trial period this year.

Barzal just has to be an average hockey player and the Isles automatically win the trade. The good thing though is Barzal looks to have way too much talent to be average let alone a bust. You win this round, Garth.
