New York Islanders fans don’t need to worry about the team’s jersey for the 2017-18 season. Adidas’ jersey looks just like the old one, with a few subtle changes with a nice nod to the teams past.
Adidas revealed the new 2017-18 jerseys for all 31 teams. Some saw big changes to their sweaters, but thankfully, the New York Islanders duds say little change. And the changes it did see are a nice nod to the team’s past.
Just look at Nashville’s new jersey. What happened there? Was Adidas going through a checklist of teams yesterday and realized that they missed the Predators? It looks like they slapped two colors together.
The Wild’s new jersey looks pretty good with the band across the middle highlighting the team’s crest. It’s a significant change from what they had before, but it works.

What About The Islanders
The New York Islanders looks just like last years version but for a few changes. The biggest is the blue around the crest of the road jersey. A small nod to the team’s history.
From their inaugural season in 1972 to 1995 the Islanders had that blue trim around the team crest on the road jerseys. Smart move Adidas. You guaranteed a few extra sales from that move.
There are a few other changes, but they aren’t anywhere near as important as the trim around the crest.
Such as the white on home jerseys sleeve. It seems that the white is taking up more space on the sleeve than it was on last year’s Reebok iteration.
Oh, and the fabric has gone through some sort of technological metamorphosis with Adidas. Or something. But seriously, no one cares what’s in the fabric. Maybe jersey collectors care, but the general public doesn’t.
Next: Best and Worst Jerseys In Isles History
Maybe one doesn’t exist because there isn’t much to say. “We liked what was there before and didn’t want to make everyone upset. We know what happened with the Fisherman fiasco.” Thankfully the 2017-18 New York Islanders will look just like last seasons with a nod to their storied past. That had to be the best case scenario for the new Adidas jerseys.
