The New York Islanders have tried and failed, to get Matt Duchene numerous times this past year. Yet, somehow we just can’t let it go away.

From tracking planes at the trade deadline to the wild month that was June of 2017 the New York Islanders have tried and failed to acquire Matt Duchene via trade. Most of the reason why the trade hasn’t happened is due to an idiotic Joe Sakic.

Nonetheless, I saw a quote yesterday that made it seem like Duchene won’t be an Avalanche for too much longer:

That does not sound like a guy who wants to be in Colorado long term. I mean can you blame him though? He’s been mentioned in trade rumors for a while now, it’s clear that his GM is trying to move him, it’s just Sakic’s asking price is astronomical.

Just when you think the Duchene rumors will stop, something like this happens to grasp your interest once more. Does this link him to the Islanders? Obviously not necessarily, but there’s no reason why it shouldn’t still be an option.

The Isles still have a desperate need at the second line center position and also have a ton of draft picks thanks to the Travis Hamonic trade. Last time I checked teams who are bad that want to rebuild need picks, and now the Isles have some extras that they’re working with. I’m no mathematician or hockey GM but there’s no reason that this can’t still happen.

One can dream right?

Opinion: John Tavares is the anti-LeBron James

New York Islanders extended defenseman Calvin de Haan by a single year. Why a just for a year? Is Tavares having the inverse LeBron James effect on his teammates to almost equal detriment? Or is this just an “I’ll have what he’s having” moment?

Round Table: Can Belmont Be A Success?

The request for proposal process for Belmont Park is now open, and the New York Islanders are said to already have a bid ready. So what do the Eyes on Isles staff think of the potential outcome? Will it be quick and easy or long and drawn out?
