The NY Islanders have been shorthanded for over two weeks now, but we’re reaching the point where they could soon receive reinforcements.

Mat Barzal, Anthony Duclair, and Adam Pelech were all given a 4-6 weeks timetable to return.

Duclair last played on October 19th against the Montreal Canadiens when he sustained what is being called a lower-body injury. We just passed the 4-week mark and as far as we know, Duclair hasn’t been back on the ice. He could be skating on his own, but regardless, we should see him back in action somewhat soon.

Reinforcements are coming

Romanov made the Western Conference trip with the Islanders and is back skating with the team in a regular jersey. He’s missed the last two weeks but will be a welcome addition back into the lineup as the Islanders are still decimated on the left side of the blue line. We could see him suit up on Tuesday against the Calgary Flames, allowing Patrick Roy to play with three natural left-handed defensemen in Romanov, Dennis Cholowski, and Isaiah George.

Barzal and Pelech have a bit further to go before their return, as both have missed two weeks of action and will have another two more before hitting their timetable.

The Islanders appear to be hitting their stride on this road trip despite the unlucky loss to the Seattle Kraken on Sunday.

The return of some of their top players will be a welcomed addition, looking to continue to build on the team playing above expectations after being bitten by the injury bug.
