There's good and bad news regarding NY Islanders forward Anthony Duclair's injury status. The bad news is he'll miss 4-6 weeks of action with what is being called a lower-body injury. The good news is that it isn't as long as expected when Lou Lamoriello said he'll be out long-term.
Duclair has been stapled to the wing alongside Bo Horvat and Mat Barzal, building chemistry resulting in three points in five games. In the one game Duclair has missed, the Islanders failed to score.
Duclair out 4-6 weeks
Now the focus is on doing all the organization can to get Duclair healthy and back on the ice closer to the four-week mark.
"We don't like to lose players, first of all," Patrick Roy said according to NHL.com. "And secondly, I mean, all I care right now is to see him be back 100 percent and feeling good when he's back. That's where the focus is."
In the Islanders' lone game without Duclair, Simon Holmstrom slotted in his place with little success. Holmstrom has only two shots through five games this season, which won't cut it playing on the team's top line. At practice today, Holmstrom lined up in that same position so it appears he'll get the first look with Horvat and Barzal tomorrow against the NJ Devils.
For years the Islanders have been searching for that top-line winger and after just four games they'll be down that critical player once again.
The Islanders will need to find ways to score goals until Duclair's return, something they've struggled with so far.
