It has been an outstanding start to his freshman campaign for NY Islanders draft pick Cole Eiserman. The 20th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, Eiserman has been one of the nation's top freshmen and is receiving notoriety from Hockey East.
Yesterday, Eiserman was named Hockey East's Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, in addition to his October Freshman of the Month award.
Eiserman named Rookie of the Week
Eiserman recorded a goal and an assist in Boston University's weekend matchup with Maine. The Terriers dropped the first matchup 5-2 and tied the second 2-2.
The Terriers are currently ranked 16th in the nation with a 5-5-1 record, with Eiserman leading the team in scoring. He has seven goals and four assists through 11 games, averaging a point-per-game and leading the team in goals.
He leads all Hockey East freshmen in scoring and goals, while only trailing Ben Muthersbaugh of Union College among all freshmen in the country.
Macklin Cellebrini, the first overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks, departed Boston University after his freshman season for the NHL, leaving a massive hole in the Terriers lineup. Eiserman has filled that void, carrying over his record-breaking goal-scoring form from the USNTDP.
There were questions surrounding Eiserman's game entering the draft, seeing him drop from a potential top-3 pick all the way down to the Islanders at 20. So far, he's shown that he competes at the next level, making the Islanders' selection look like even more of a steal at 20.
There's still plenty of time to improve in the NCAA this season, with Eiserman's eyes likely set on making the Islanders roster next season or possibly joining at the tail end of this season.
