In his final season with the Barrie Colts of the OHL, NY Islanders prospect Kashawn Aitcheson will play for the J. Ross Robertson Cup, awarded to the Ontario Hockey League champions.
Tonight, the Colts erased a 3-1 series deficit to defeat the Brantford Bulldogs, winning the decisive game 5-0 to capture the Bobby Orr Trophy as Eastern Conference Champions.
Aitcheson, who has been a force all season, left his mark all over this game, scoring the opening goal of the night, which proved to be the game-winner. With 1:21 remaining in the first period, Parker Von Richter found Aitcheson in the space between the circles, and the 2025 first-round pick made no mistake, burying the puck in the corner.

With his team on the brink of elimination, needing to win three straight, Aitcheson played what might be his best hockey of the season. In a must-win Game 5, Aitcheson recorded two assists, and to force a Game 7, he registered a hat-trick of assists in Game 6.
Since the first round, Aitcheson has piled up points, totaling 21 (5 G, 16 A) in 14 games - tied for the most among all defensemen in the playoffs with St. Louis Blue prospect Adam Jiricek.
In the OHL Finals, Aitcheson and the Colts will go toe-to-toe with fellow Islanders prospect Luca Romano and the Kitchener Rangers for the right to play in the Memorial Cup Finals.
Aitcheson signed his ELC with the Islanders on March 17, and will turn professional next season whether that be with the Islanders in the NHL or the new AHL affiliate that will play in Hamilton, ON
