While there hasn't been much hype around the NY Islanders prospect pool, Danny Nelson and Cole Eiserman helped improve morale after their stellar performances at the 2025 World Junior Championship, which helped Team USA win the Gold Medal for the second year in a row.
Six days after defeating Finland in that Gold Medal game, Nelson and Eiserman were back in action with their respective universities, picking up right where they left off with their country, having career nights in their first weekend back in action.
NY Islanders prospects stay hot
Eiserman and the Boston University Terriers took on the Vermont Catamounts in back-to-back home games at Agganis Arena. In Friday's matchup, Eiserman must have been feeling out the waters, finishing without a point in the Terriers 6-1 win, because on Saturday he erupted for a three-goal night.
He'd score in many ways throughout the night, but his elite shot was on display, finishing the hat-trick off on a booming one-timer on the power play.
After falling to the Michigan Wolverines 5-3 on Friday night, the Fighting Irish got their revenge on their Big 10 rivals, winning 7-4 with Nelson playing a pivotal role.
After adding more offense for Team USA than may have been expected of him going into the World Junior Championship, Nelson continued his hot offensive streak, finishing with a goal and two assists.
Similar to most of his goals for his country, Nelson's goal came from in close, putting on a little move before beating the goaltender on his backhand.
With these two and Quinn Finley continuing to tear up the NCAA, Islanders fans may have more to be excited about in terms of their prospects than they may have thought.
