Throughout the week of March 20th, the New York Islanders played four games in total. They won two, and they also lost two. On Sunday, March 20th, the Islanders lost to the Philadelphia Flyers by a score of two to one.

The team went on to win their next two games, beating the Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings, before losing a rough one on Saturday to the Boston Bruins. On Saturday, Varlamov allowed six goals against Boston in a losing effort. These are the top three players of the week.

3. Ilya Sorokin

Ilya Sorokin played his first game of the week on March 20th against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Islanders lost that game by a score of two to one. However, that is no fault of Sorokin's. Sorokin kept the game close but unfortunately didn't have the offense to back it up. In the game, Sorokin allowed two goals and picked up 35 saves on 37 shot attempts to give himself a .946 SV%.

Sorokin's second game of the week faired much better. On Thursday, March 24th, Sorokin and the Islanders beat the Detroit Red Wings five to two. During the game, Sorokin allowed two goals but picked up 37 saves on 39 shot attempts to give himself a .949 SV%. He finished the week 1-1.

2. Anders Lee

There is no shocker here. This was another great week by the team captain, Anders Lee. On Tuesday, March 22nd, the Islanders beat the Ottawa Senators by a score of three to two. In the game, Lee picked up one goal and one assist. In Thursday's game against the Red Wings, Lee picked up three assists.

Lee was a very active player on the team last week, as per usual. On Saturday, March 26th, even in the Islanders' rough loss to Boston, Lee picked up one goal and one assist. On the week, Lee picked up two goals and five assists. Lee continues to remain a bright spot on a team that's had a rough year.

1. Brock Nelson

What else can we say? Brock Nelson has continued to show why he's arguably the best player on the Islanders this season. In Tuesday's game, Nelson picked up three assists in total, remaining an active member of the team by setting up his teammates to score. On Thursday, Nelson picked up two goals.

Nelson, not only is a great set-up player, he also can find the net. On Saturday, Nelson picked up a goal as well. On the week, Nelson picked up three goals and three assists. Nelson remains a pivotal player on this team even throughout a rough season.
