The NY Islanders are still among the most disrespected teams when it comes to nationally televised games

When it comes to playing in front of a national audience, the NY Islanders have typically been on the low end of the scale regarding nationally televised games. This year is no different. The Isles will play 10 games on national TV in the US - one of the fewest among US-based franchises.

Only five teams that play their home games in the United States will be televised nationally fewer times: Anaheim Ducks (7), Columbia Blue Jackets (2), Nashville Predators (3), Seattle Kraken (11), and the Utah Mammoth (7).

The first matchup against the NY Rangers will be an important one, as it’s the first nationally televised game between the cross-town rivals since the 2023-24 season.

With the emergence of Matthew Scahefer as one of the league's budding superstars, you'd think the league would want to market the kid in any way possible. But that doesn't appear to be the case.

When it comes down to it, the Islanders have never played well in front of the entire country, so maybe being seen only locally plays in their favor.
