Since the New York Islanders aren’t in the Stanley Cup Final you’re going to need a team to root for. Here’s why you should hop on the Nashville bandwagon.

The New York Islanders won’t be playing in the final, but if you want to enjoy the series you should hop on a bandwagon. Let’s face it, there’s no chance you’re hopping on the Pittsburgh Penguins bandwagon.

But, you shouldn’t be sitting this one out. There’s a lot of good reasons why rooting for the Predators makes sense if you’re an Isles fan.

The P.K. Subban Defense

P.K. Subban is an extremely likable NHL player unless of course you’re Mike Milbury. During this year’s NHL playoffs the NBC loudmouth “analyst” called Subban a clown for having fun dancing to music during the pregame warmups.

Now, any enemy of Mike Milbury is a friend of mine. Plus he’s actually good buddies with our captain John Tavares

If P.K. Subban winning makes JT happy then I’m all aboard the Nashville train.

Plus, with everything Subban has gone through this past year, with the controversial trade and claims that he was a bad locker room guy it would be pretty awesome if he came away carrying Lord Stanley’s Cup over his head after it all (Sorry Montreal).

For the more casual fan, the comparison to Josh Ho-Sang could be made here. Both, for a variety of reasons, have this rhetoric against them saying that they are problems. Well, Isles fans fell in love with Ho-Sang this year because of his fun electricity, the same applies to Subban.

Never Root For A Divison Rival

Unlike the Preds, the Penguins are an extremely unlikeable team (besides Phil Kessel of course). Let’s face it Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are the kinds of players you only like if they’re on your team.

Well, they’re not on the Isles they’re on a division rival. You should never root for a division rival ever, no ifs and or buts about it. Besides the other New York team, the Pens are towards the top of the list of most hated divisional opponent.

The Long Island Roots

Let’s face it, what do Long Islanders love more than Billy Joel? Famous people from Long Island. Think about it, us Long Islanders love Steven Matz, Mariah Carey and Boomer Esiason just because of the fact that they have Long Island roots. It’s just our thing don’t hate.

Well, Nashville Predators defenseman Anthony Bitetto is from Island Park right here on the Island. I remember going to a game in 2015 at the Coli against Nashville and there was a huge crowd there supporting him.

There’s another reason for you to hop on the bandwagon.

Let’s face it who wants to see Sidney Crosby with another cup?. Not me, Islander fans hate him and for good reason. He kills us! Hopefully, Nashville takes home the Stanley Cup. They’re a fun hockey town who has never won before. Change is good.
