Pending UFA, Robin Lehner has the chance to talk to other teams who could be interested in him. His focus is still on the New York Islanders.

Both Anders Lee and Robin Lehner have made it to the point where other teams can begin talking to them before free agency begins. Lehner has made it very clear that his focus is still on re-signing with the New York Islanders.

"“I’ve got no plans to talk to another team at this point,” Lehner told Newsday on Sunday. “From my understanding, that’s not Lou’s intention either. Hopefully, it will work out so we can finish what we have started.”"

Similar to Lee, it isn’t the AAV that is the issue for Robin Lehner. Allegedly, Lou Lamoriello doesn’t want to go long-term with either of these two guys, at least as long as what they’re asking anyway.

Lehner is coming off the best year of his career where he had a .930 save percentage and a 2.13 goals against average. Islanders fans fell in love with him not only for his stellar play but because of his story.

Robin Lehner has been very open about his struggles with mental health issues. He’s been a tremendous rolemodel and spokesperson for mental health. This past week, his speech at the NHL Awards stole the show.

With his on ice talent and off ice impact it’s a no brainer to bring Robin Lehner back. Hopefully Lou figures out a compromise that is suitable for both sides.
