New York Islanders fans are tired of Brock Nelson’s inconsistencies. Will Doug Weight be able to hold Brock accountable despite his end of the season stats?
The other day on the podcast Mitch called out Brock Nelson, asking why he has a guaranteed roster spot. Well, no less than 24 hours after recording the episode New York Islanders coach Doug Weight had some interesting lines in practice.
The top two lines seemed like the ones we’ve grown to expect. The top line includes Lee – Tavares – Eberle while line two was Ladd – Barzal – Bailey. It was the next few that were strange.
You would think, Nelson would center that third line. Well, he was between Jason Chimera and Steve Bernier on the fifth line! Both Casey Cizikas and Stephen Gionta were given center roles on lines above him, with more talented players.

I know it’s only practice, but I think we can raise the question; will Doug Weight finally hold Brock accountable?
If Brock goes through one of his prolonged slumps and Dougie sends him to the press box what a message that would be. The Isles have some pretty decent scoring depth offensively if the youth is playing well veterans will sit.
I still firmly believe Nelson is best served as the third line center. But, he shouldn’t have a long leash. If he struggles, he’s better get used to the popcorn in the press box.
